Common Problems and Fixes

You will find the seven problems people hit most, and the shortest fix for each.

Try this first task

Copy it, paste it into your Bot, and see one real result before you read on.

First task
Run a self-check now and report in this chat:
1. Which plan and account are you signed in with?
2. Which tools and connectors can you reach?
3. Which routines are active, and when do they next run?
Change nothing. Just report.

Steps

  1. 1

    "I don't have access"

    1. Check your plan is SuperGrok Heavy, Cursor Ultra, or Cursor Teams Premium.

    2. Check you signed in with the Cursor account that has that plan.

    3. Check Legacy Privacy Mode in Cursor. It blocks Grok Bot. Turn it off, then restart the app.

  2. 2

    "There is no Linux app"

Correct, there is no official Linux desktop app. Use macOS or Windows, or the iPhone app on iOS 18 or later.

There is no iPad or Android app yet.

  3. 3

"The Bot asked me to sign in"

Open Agent Computer from the conversation, take over, enter the password and 2FA yourself, then return control.

  4. 4

    "It did too much"

Say "Stop now". This halts the work but does not undo finished actions.

Then add approval rules to the Bot profile, for example: never send, buy, delete, or change settings without my approval.

  5. 5

    "It forgot my preferences"

Standing rules belong in Edit Profile, not only in a chat message. Chat rules apply to that conversation.

  6. 6

    "My routine didn't run"

    Check the routine is Active.

    Check the time and timezone.

Edit the schedule in the desktop app. Some routine editing is desktop-only.

  7. 7

    "I have too many Bots"

The limit is 50 Bots and group chats combined. Hide the ones you do not use to clean up the list.

Hiding a Bot does not pause its routines. Turn the routine off if you want it to stop.

Copy-paste examples

Approval rules to paste into a Bot profile
Never without my approval:
- Send email, messages, or replies
- Post anything publicly
- Buy anything or enter payment details
- Change account settings, passwords, or permissions
- Delete or overwrite files

If a step needs one of these, stop and ask me first.

If something goes wrong

Nothing above worked

  • Restart the desktop app and sign in again.
  • Check the official docs at https://docs.x.ai/grok-bot/get-started, since the beta UI changes often.

After a good run, save it as a skill

When one run works, turn it into a skill so you never write the task again.

Save as skill
Save this as a skill called "Weekly self-check".
Include the three questions and the rule that you change nothing.
Then make a routine that runs it every Friday at 16:00.
